This place changed hands recently and has always been good. I am happy to report that it is even better now.

Smiling faces and good service don't balance with bad meals. In fact, rather have the opposite if forced to make a choice. Chile Colorado and the Chile Verde were not prepared with love. Portions are smaller with tough meat and unacceptable over powering spiced sauces. For example, the Chile Verde sauce is a weird tomatillo concentrate. No tortillas came with my takeout order.
This business is dying (read other reviews here in the last year for the reasons). Things don't stay the same and I guess the previous owner cashed out to enjoy retirement. Good for him. The new owner / management have a lot of room for improvement. My taste buds will also retire from La Mission recalling past happy memories. -

For nearly 20 years La Mission was my favorite Mexican restaurant. Now it's a huge disappointment serving nasty food that leaves you with horrible heartburn. Under new ownership. Makes me sad. I will never return.

I love it here. They are making a lot of changes but still great taste. I love the environment and atmosphere they create here. I always enjoy muself and the food. Come by and get some good quality Mexican food.

The ambience and service push them from "meh" to "pretty good".
We came here with a Groupon and had no problems. The stipulations were that you must buy two entrees and two drinks. That's what we got!
The build-your-own combination was very nice; I got 2 enchiladas and 1 chile relleno, and my partner got fish tacos. Our drinks, a michelada and a slushie strawberry margarita, were very good.
The food was just OK, unfortunately. Instead of being really aromatic and rich and spicy, it was much more savory, creamy, and salty.
The chile verde (pork) enchiladas were great.
The chile relleno was...weird. It was like they stuffed the chile normally, and then stuffed that into a sort of hollow bread roll, and then fried that and doused it in sauce. It was really salty and kind of gooey.
The fish tacos were fresh and crispy but had TONS of batter that was quite oily.
The homemade tortillas were good, but not outstanding.
The ambience and the restaurant building itself was really nice, and the servers were very attentive. It was also nice to hear everyone who worked there, including the owner, speaking Spanish to one another, and hear a family singing feliz cumpleanos in the next room.
Go here and you'll support a fairly tasty, friendly, and authentic Mexican restaurant owned by a family.
However, you can probably get tastier food for a lower price at another taqueria.
